Yesterday's Gameday Update

Our seats were awesome!  Thanks Boss.  We got there soooooo early.  Early enough to not tailgate, to see the players come in (never saw that before I don't think, honey correct me if I'm wrong), got very upfront row to watch the band, hang out in our awesome seats for 53 min before the game even started, etc.  So here are my favorite pics (I took over 100 which is crazy lots for me).  I really had a blast despite the heat.  I almost passed out during the first half.  It was so freaking hot and everytime I had to stand up and cheer I would get horribly dizzy and need to sit down.  I must say I really wish they wouldn't have pushed the game up so early.  It really was unnecessary, I got so badly sunburned I had no energy for the rest of the day, Grr...
We got to see the players come in!
Waiting for the band...
The Cheerleaders entertained us!
I almost missed Mike the Tiger trying to get pics of the band coming down the hill.
I love the drums, look how cool they are!

Single file

I love his pic.  They look so cool holding their instrument so steady and perfect.

The tubas are my favorite.  They make the prettiest pictures!

The backs of the instruments even look cool all in a line.  Oh I'm obsessed with the band, can you tell?

A view from our seats on the 35 yard line, 36 rows up!

This tiger is huge!  Look at him laying in the cage.

Pregame show, I can't tell you how happy I was to finally after 6 years of going to the games get a pic where I was facing the LSU when it was spelled out!

I had to include this pic because we were so close and look at the cheerleaders in the distance, Proud to be an American!

They did this little ceremony at Pregame Show where they raised all the championship flags.  I almost forgot to mention while they were doing this ceremony F-18s (i think it was) flew over the stadium and by the time I heard them they were like little ants in the sky.  Scared the crap out of me, but I loved the feeling of my heart racing to start the game/season off.  :) SO COOL!

I love these pictures, but this was such a different angle.  Did I mention how much I loved our seats?

Lea-Lea this one is for you.  Just like you thought they played the "We are Champions" song at the halftime show and formed what looked like the crystal ball with a big #1 in the middle.

That's all folks!  Hope you enjoyed and ya'll come back na!

Uncomfortable

Let me make this perfectly clear, I'm a paranoid person by nature.  I come from that kind of family and during stressful situations it shines through very brightly.  For the past few days we have been going to stores making sure we have everything we need to weather this hurricane.  One day I will be able to afford a generator and I might feel a little bit better.  But for now my day today will continue to consist of cleaning my  house, washing clothes, cleaning refrig out (that could turn gross) and trying to do all the things I need electricity for.  I will also be bringing in all my plants and patio furniture, so they don't cause worse problems.  See naturally Markus isn't worried.  I'm not sure he ever does really.  But his only concern (worry) is the utility pole in our backyard about 6 or so feet away from our house.

The reason we almost didn't buy the house in the first place.

As you can see by the first pic how close it really is to our house by my planter that is in the pic on my back patio.  So I'm just wondering how this will all pan out for us and well everyone really.  We've been following the news like everyone else I'm sure waiting to see if anything has changed and if it could be better news for us.  Nope.  It's worse.  How they are describing what BR will feel is much a reminder and memory of what BR felt like during Hurricane Andrew.  That storm was horrible.  I remember being a child and thinking that our house was going to blow away!  The winds were bad.  The whistling noise I didn't think I would ever get out of my head.  And I remember the house on my street who had a huge tree fall into the middle of their house.   So I just pray that our poor house is spared and we can still live here after the hurricane rips through here.

Today is close to my heart

Mrs. Kathi if you are reading this hope you had a wonderful Bday.  I didn't forget about you.  We will do Bday for you when you get here.  Sorry your bday is linked with the historical and fatal Hurricane Katrina.  That was a crazy day 3 years ago.  Markus and I were only married for one month.  It was then that I realized how grateful I was that Markus and I didn't wait to get married until the fall and how we did get married in the temple.  It's amazing how having the church/gospel in your life puts horrible, catastrophic events into perspective.  I'm so grateful that we were spared and only had to be without power for 1 -1/2 days and just stare at each other as we watched the hurricane rip through BR.  We were able to feed my family and my in-laws during this time and it was rewarding to help those in need.  May God watch over and protect us as this hurricane Gustav approaches.

Bitter Sweet Day

Yesterday my assistant storms in my office with the famous, I have to talk to you spill.  So naturally I was worried and devoted my attention to her with a, what's up?  She then proceeds to say she was offered an assistantship with LSU which she was sure she wasn't going to get and she was trying to decide if she wanted to do it.  Well long story short the pros were definitely there for her.  It was win win for her.  So today, she quit.  I expected it, but didn't think I would feel so lost without her.  I'm very excited for her and told her that and that she had to do the best thing for her and her life.  She offered to come in on Labor Day and try to help til I could find someone else, but I told her don't worry about it.  I wanted her to be focused on the task at hand and not be here.  She reluctantly agreed, but still kept offering to help where she could.

Today was bad for me.  There was entirely too much going on.  I'm so glad it's almost over.  Thanks to the Governor moving the game up to 10am I guess I won't be sleeping in.  BUT I am sooooooooooooooo excited for the game.  Not just because it's the first game, but that my boss offered me tickets.  I don't know if he forgot that we had season tickets or what.  He left me a voicemail saying he had 2 tickets.  I immediately called him back.  Here's why: Markus went to the dentist today which by the way and just for the record my terrible teeth beat his bill.  Grr... but he's got $6000 worth to do too.  But Markus overheard the dentist talking about trying to find tickets.  So Markus being Mr. Nice Guy offered to get him some.  Dr. was like well if you can get me some tickets, here's my # call me. He also proceeded to tell him he would do some fillings for him for tickets.  :) (Imagine my pearly whites when I heard my boss's voicemail) Long story short.  I accepted the tickets.  They are way better seats than we have (in my opinion) and we gave ours to the dentist and now I don't have to do Care Credit :)  He is going to let us pay him so much each month and still get our work done.  I'm very very happy.  So I must say it was a Bitter Sweet Day.  Here's the VIEW from the tickets the bossman gave me compared to our USUAL view in Tiger Stadium.  So which would you like better????

Another Dentist Visit Down

Well I had a dentist visit yesterday that didn't involve a root canal, which was a pivotal moment for me these days.  I went in for a cleaning which I can't even remember the last time that was and I was very embarrassed to go in.  I told her before I even opened my mouth that I hate very dirty teeth and was ashamed.  She took a look and proceeded to say, I've seen worse.  Not sure if that was supposed to make me feel better about my mouth or what.  I will say that my teeth feel soooo good.
In more teeth news, Markus goes for his x-rays and evaluation visit on Friday to see what is going on in his mouth.  It will be interesting to see the results of this.  He has ragged me so bad for all the work I need done and the amount of money it is going to take to get it done.  More on that when it becomes available.  It's bad when you start making friends with the people at the dentist office.  OH Geez.  I really want to cancel my future appts because I can't afford it.  They keep trying to push the Care Credit on me.  I've almost fallen into the temptation.  I just don't think it's right for me to keep getting treatments on all my decay and only paying the small portion I can afford.  Markus keeps telling me to talk to the dentist, but how do you bring up the I can't afford it, but I REALLY need this to get done?

8.26.2008

It's that time again!

Tennis Tournament!  If that is what you guessed then you are right.  Markus has another tennis tournament he will be playing in the weekend (hopefully).  That makes for one every month for the past oh 5 or 6 months or so.  This weekend is the State Playoffs for his mixed combo league.  Which for the record I really like his partner.  They play very well together.  They are a good compliment to make a great team.  She is an older lady who is very very good.  She teaches at a school here in town (not sure which one).  Markus has been looking forward to this since he joined the league because their team is so good, but apparently his partner is playing on another league whose team is also going to state and he will only be playing one of the three days in the tourney.  Unless they make it to the Championship game.  He seems confident they will get there, but who knows with the hurricane coming.  It's in Mandeville.  So I'm a bit worried for all of it really.  I sure would love to have a nice relaxing weekend/holiday, but I'm not so sure that will even be possible.  I pray that we will be spared, but not at the expense of someone else.  It's never a good situation.

My New Eye Candy

We went to Ashley Furniture yesterday because I have heard so much about this store and so many people get their couches from there, I had to check it out. Well like any other store in the city, I wasn't very impressed with their selection of modern/contemporary furniture. But I did see these chairs right when I walked in and couldn't stop thinking about them. Markus reluctantly was like yeah I like them, I guess they would work. He's not very excited about Zebra print, but I love it. It's in my bathroom too. He was talking about putting these in my bedroom. NO! Anyways these are my new favorite thing that I'm dying to have. Oh if only I had a money :) Maybe one day in the distant future!

No Weekends left

As I was looking at my ticker thingy that was counting down how long I have left til football, I had a thought...  I will officially have no more weekends left to fix things around the house, spend time in my garden, etc.  It's almost been one year since we've bought our house and I really wanted to see my bathroom (at least) fixed by that time and I keep saying next weekend for like months now.  Finally I want to get it done and guess what, It's football season.  OH Geez!  My mom kindly informed me that is part of homeownership... you always have unfinished projects.  Which is so not like me.  I just haven't had a whole lot of enthusiasm towards the master bathroom.  It's actually depressing, but that's another story for another day.  But here's to getting the bathroom complete by let's just say the end of the year.  There I think I might could accomplish that now.

Doing What They Do Best

Markus says to me, "hey babe, come look at this dog" and this is what I found.

Things I Miss About/ From Childhood

I was daydreaming one day about all the things I miss about being a kid... So, I started a list.  Feel free to chime in as I go back in time.  In no particular order here goes:

1. Putting Elmer's glue all over the inside of my hands and waiting until it dried so I could peel it off. (1st grade favorite)
2. My only job was to go to school (and I thought that was hard)
3. Not being responsible for paying bills.
4. Field trips
5. BREC Day Camp
6. Raking up the leaves in a big pile and jumping right in
7. The golf course behind my old house, we had many a fun night (which is now Green Trails neighborhood)
8. My old house
9. Washing the car with Daddy
10. The Highlights Magazines in the mail
11. Valentine's Day at school
12. Trick or Treatin'
13. Dance Lessons, I really loved being a ballerina (the recitals were so much fun)
14. Jones Creek Library with all my friends, it was a great hang out
15. Homemade Slip N Slides with dishwashing soap
16. Mom's biscuits (I can't make them like her to save my life)
17. Being called a twin or triplet cause we all seemed to look alike
18. Picking roses from mom's  garden to bring to our elementary teachers
19. Passing notes in class (I got in big trouble for this in 5th grade)
20. Folding those same notes as hearts (can't remember how to do it for anything)
21. Primary (I love the songs)
22. Disney movies- We could recite all the lines and songs in The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, 101 Dalmations, & Beauty and the Beast
23. Sneaking to watch MTV (when it was cool) & VH1
24. Drooling over My-So Called Life's Jared Leto
25. Having pics all over my room of JTT (most at one time 64)
26. Tiger Beat & Bop Magazine (I had an obsession)
27. Having my own room with a double bed (that was awesome for a 9 year-old, pink two toned walls, and an accent rose wallpaper wall
28. The tooth fairy (do they give money for bad teeth that break?)
29. Singing oldies songs in the car with daddy in the background saying when it was popular
30. My sisters, we were better friends then and I think much less competitive
31. Mom always saying, "Katie bought the ranch" Long story short, mom used to say it when we would about to get in trouble, but I just recently found out it was made up
32. Daddy driving after church around the loop and then going down Pecue really fast when we hit the railroad tracks so it would feel like we were on a roller coaster ride and our heads would touch the top of the car.

Well those are just things that come to mind.  It's so funny how life is just different when you are a kid and you have practically no worries outside of homework and playtime.  I find myself saying often, "those were the days"

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED!!!!!!!

Ok so the countdown is on. We got our season tickets today. Markus went to the 'rents to pick them up. They are very pretty if I might add. They did them horizontally this year instead of vertical. Very cool! O and I love the pic of the flag... that will go straight to the LSU scrapbook. Speaking of which I have a new goal... get last year's season scraped. I haven't even finished 2006. Oh dear. Not sure what happened there. Any volunteers to scrap with me?? Don't all yell at the same time, there's plenty of room for all.

P. S. Did I mention we were excited for the season to start. Not cause the home games are awesome, but we (i've come to) just love this time of year. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!

A week in review

Seems like forever since I've posted anything.  Well last Thurs I went for fillings at the dentist and SURPRISE another root canal.  That really wasn't the surprising part.  He warned me it might happen, but he wouldn't know til he got in there.  The SURPRISE was when they told me how much I owed.  Geez.  Long story short the insurance is maxed out and I've got a huge bill with them and still not even half the work is completed.  Oh love it!

Saturday Markus and I had breakfast downtown at the Farmer's Market which was awesome.  We both agreed it would be very cool to live downtown in an old house, but there is just nothing going on downtown anymore.  Then I saw my Grandpa for his 91st bday.  He was very attentive and knew exactly who I was and wondered where my husband was.  He was so cute.  I'm so happy he is still alive.  While I was there I found out my uncle Brent is moving back here from living in the ATL forever.  Very excited for that because he is very crafty with his hands and I might commission him to do some work around my house.  He looks just like daddy and reminds me of him so much.  Miss him.

Me & Papa at his 90th bday party last year!

We also saw an old friend Brittany.  She is prego and just as cute as ever.  Her little boy came over and kept saying he loved my dog.  Bogey was so good with Landen.  It was adorable.   Got to break the news to SIL about the halter dress.  I still don't think she is crazy about the idea.  I asked her if I could wear a shrug or something over it.  So hopefully I order some extra fabric with the dress.

Sunday went to New Iberia for church.  It was a long day filled with funny conversations.  These women are a hoot and I will leave it at that.

Monday back at work. My assistant was super bitchy.  I was so over her and hoping tomorrow she will be in a better mood when she comes back to work.  If she only knew how many times I've saved her job I swear she would act differently, least I hope so.  Best part of the day, MIL calls DH and says she will pay for the tux for SILs wedding.  Markus doesn't want to wear one because he would rather take the money and spend it on a nice suit (he doesn't have one) from Cohn Turner or something.  He doesn't feel like helping his sister get a free limo just to have to spend more money than he would at a normal place like we did with no limo and help the wedding party out.  Wait he isn't even part of the wedding party that's right, he's just an USHER.  I don't think she understood that it's not about the money.  Oh well...

Today ah today.  I forgot my purse at work.  Guess I can't drive tonight and get a redlight ticket, THE END.

8.13.2008

Redlight surprise!

As I was yapping away Monday on the phone it was like any other day, grap the mail on the way inside.  In my hurried state I gave it to Markus to continue my convo.  He loves to get the mail first so he shows me a letter and it was something from the state.  I was thinking the DMV cause it was addressed to both of us.  Surprise!  It was a ticket from one of the redlight cameras!  OH boy.  Markus was laughing and immediately looked for the time and date of this to make sure it wasn't him before he started with his I told you so's.  Yep it was me.  So conveniently I can't watch the video of the whole thing happening.  Grr.. I'm going to try it on my work computer to see if the ol' PC will work it's magic.  I was taking a right on red and supposedly didn't come to a complete stop on Florida freakin' Blvd??  Does anyone know how busy that road is??  Um I just don't think I would've done that in the AM.  But we will see.  I think I had a green arrow but of course the pics on the ticket didn't show a close up of the light.  So what was the money for these damn cameras going to??  Anyone?

Lastest Pics of Bogey

Everyday I wonder what I would do without this dog.  He really keeps Markus and I together.  We have grown to love him in a way that we love.  We call him Bogey Puppy these days.  He is just the life of our party.  There really is never a dull moment.  If this is what kids are like, I'm going to love every second of it.  There is nothing better than Bogey coming to me (couch, bed, etc.) and plopping as close as he can get even on top of me in my face just to cuddle.  The sweetest thing ever.  He's getting very fluffy and we just haven't cut him yet, but I love his mohawk.  Now if I could just catch a picture of him drinking out of the toilet, I haven't been successful.  His fav thing to do when he comes from the hot outside.  We caught him one day doing it and just laughed so hard.  :)  Enjoy!

My New Fav Pic of Bogey

I love his spotted tongue and mohawk.  Oh he's on my new bedding too.

If this isn't just sweet!

and sweeter.  Markus gets a kick out of this :)

I think they are playing the staring contest here.  Markus lost cause he's smiling.  Bogey is Mr. Serious!

An Update

I started rinsing/ gargling with peroxide on Monday evening (or Tues) I believe it was and today I'm starting to feel some relief.  Let me just say it's about time.  But I am happy to report I think it works.  It's no miracle in that one swish and you're healed or anything.  But at least it has slowly taken the pain away.  I guess it would've been no big deal (as some people I belly ache to say) had it only been the ones you get on your gums or inside of the wall of your mouth (which I had both), but the most painful one was under my tongue on the super tender part and every time i talked or swallowed it let me know it was there.  It got way bigger with little baby ulcers coming up all around the mama one before it got better too.  Ok this is weird, but for everyone who thought it was weird (like me) try it when you get one.  It works!  voila

Who knew?

I was belly-aching at work yesterday about how much pain these ulcers were giving me and one of my co-workers was like Jenn just gargle with peroxide.  HUH?  I didn't know if I heard her correctly, but that's right and the bottle I have even gives you instructions on mixing equal parts of water and peroxide.  Nothing like foaming at the mouth!  One day these SOB's will be gone.

8.03.2008

My poor aching mouth

So right when I thought I was doing ok I see ulcers all over my mouth.  You talk about hurt.  See the root canal wasn't the bad part, it was how badly my mouth got torn up in the process.  I kept wondering why it was so hard to swallow.  I just need to get rid of these things ASAP.

8.01.2008

I'm a BIG Girl Now!

I must say I'm proud of myself after yesterday's root canal.  I didn't take the valium as they offered nor the gas once I was there and edgy.  I managed to calm my nerves by myself (with the help of my IPOD).  People thought I was crazy not doing any of the above, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (after I calmed down) and it went much better than I thought.  Until he was going to fill a tooth and I felt him drilling.  That was scary, but they numbed me again and it was all good from there.  Now all I have to do is go for more fillings and the crown.  However, my mouth is sooo sore from keeping it open for so long that all I want to do is shut it!  Ahh.. how funny.

Bad news is one of my other teeth might need a root canal, but he won't know for sure until he goes in there (how comforting, right?).  So we will see.  For now I'm taking it easy.
