Celebrating the Best Day of My Life

I can't believe we've already been married for 3 years.  But today we celebrate the best day of my life.  Pictured above is one of my favorite pics from my wedding day.   On this day 3 years ago, I got everything I wanted, my best friend in the whole world.  He completes me in a way I never knew existed.  It never ceases to amaze me.  I'm so grateful for all the good and bad times we've shared that have allowed us to grow as a couple and strengthen our relationship even more than we thought possible.  This past year has been a fun one for us filled with the purchase of our first home, Markus changing his major, having our Bogey (thanks to Courtney & her fam) and lots of other fun stuff.

Markus I look forward to eternity with you.  As you engraved in my wedding band "For all eternity"!  I love you and I Could Not Ask For More (remember that song)!

Markus = Patience, Understanding & Love

Last night Markus and I were just driving around. I had to go do more invitation stuff for my boss and once that was done we didn't really know what we wanted to do. So Markus suggested we go to Cortana. He loves to visit the Polo & Cremieux section there and pick up on the clothes that you know who won't wear. So after Markus looked downstairs and wasn't interested in anything he saw we went upstairs. My towels are on sale and I wanted to pick up some chocolate ones for the master bathroom. For anyone who has always asked me about my towels they are now on sale at Dillards. So after trying to decide what ones to get, Markus was like let's go see if we can find some sheets first. So first we find some 400 thread count white sheet set for $30. I was overjoyed because we are kinda snobby about the thread count of our sheets. So I continued looking not really thinking I'd find anything, but Markus seemed willing to then look for a coverlet for our King size bed. It was then that I found the duvet that fit what I was looking for in our bedding. Of course the price helped a lot. King size stuff is soooo expensive that is one reason I was originally not all for it. Long story short (don't want to lose you here) we walked out with 1 duvet cover, 2 euro shams (I still need one more, but they didn't have it), 2 standard shams, 1 bed skirt, 1 sheet set, 2 chocolate pillowcases, and a zebra rug for $144! I was so overjoyed. We spent a while there while I tried to decide what shams to get etc. Then Markus was like ok you owe me. Poor Markus, then he proceeds to say as we were leaving, "I guess this is my anniversary present, huh?" I love him! hehehehe

Rain Rain Go Away

It's very unusual that I don't want it to rain especially when it's been a little dry and I have to water my garden. I don't always remember to do that til I see my plants droupy and then I remember. Yesterday it must have stormed at the house. Everything was nice and wet, which I was grateful for because I didn't have to water which could cost me money. So I went into our masterbath to get something for Markus and stepped into a LARGE puddle of water. I immediately yelled out for Markus and looked at the tub and sink to see if it came from there. But I knew that didn't make sense because the carpet was soaked where our closet was too. I just didn't get it until Markus came in and we both looked up and yup there it was. Our skylight has a nice long crack in it which is explained the huge amount of water on the floor and into our closet. I immediately thought to myself after my discovery, OH THE JOYS OF HOMEOWNERSHIP! Guess I'll go tune into the weather and see how long it can be put off like everything else in my house. Just when I thought our bathroom might be fixed THIS YEAR!

Grrrr...

So we just recently changed insurance companies, but not for reasons most people change insurance companies for (cheaper).  We just didn't feel like getting the run around with my old insurance company anymore.  We changed our auto and are working on homeowner's right now.  Well Markus was the one who actually got us in at State Farm.  I talked yesterday with a nice lady I could completely relate to and established a great relationship with her.  She just recently has had to do the job of 2 because the girl that gave Markus the quote quit and had lots of unfinished business to take care of.  We were a part of that unfinished business.  1st Grr... girl gave us a cheaper quote and it ended going up because she knowingly gave us good drivers discount when Markus told her I got a ticket.   So I looked past that after the nice lady Debbie explained the situation.  2nd Grr... She called Markus today to inform him she found an email in the old girls inbox that said our auto policy was being cancelled!!!  WTF?!?  That's how I felt.  Whatever for you might ask.  Well Sarah Wilson of course (Markus' little sister).  See she got in a wreck and caused PROPERTY damage and it seems to haunt us everytime we try to get auto insurance quotes.  Here's why... on Aug 2, 2005 Sarah was involved in a car accident.  Markus and I were on our honeymoon and "technically" you could say he was living at his parent's house according to his license.  He didn't change that of course til we were already back and settled in.  So our current insurance company wrote our agent and said that we hadn't told them about this person who lived in our house as a driver.  huh??  I guess it makes sense, but why does someone else's B.S. have to interfere with my life/insurance.  I became unglued (my assistant can attest to that) and told sweet Debbie that I could provide her with anything she wanted to prove that Miss Sarah didn't live in my freakin house EVER.  My gracious, thank goodness she understood and said she would take care of it but didn't know if she could stop the cancellation letter from making it to our house.

My Funny Yesterday

I can laugh about this now, but thought if Markus shared it with the guy at work, certainly anyone can hear it now!  Yesterday as I was getting ready for work I put on these army green cargo capris that I have.  I hardly wear them because I don't like them, it's just one of those articles of clothing my husband likes and I didn't, so I bought it because it was cheap and he likes them.  Needless to say I can't ever seem to find anything in my closet to put them with that I'm 100% happy with.  Yesterday was no exception.  I could only find a black bra to wear so with that in mind that would mean I'd have to wear a dark shirt, right?  So I found a brown polo to wear.  Looked at myself in the mirror and thought I looked like I was in the military.  Almost like a you know what.  So that shirt came off and I went for my cute tigers shirt (see pic below).  I thought for sure yellow and green complemented each other well enough that I wouldn't have to change my stupid capris.  So I was satisfied with the yellow and went on my marry way.  Went to work it was just like any other day other than when I told my boss that I was going to run to the bank and if he needed anything to call me.  Well usually when I say that he responds back to me with, "are you going to run or drive".  I jokingly said well I could stand to run, goodness knows I need the exercise.  He says not that you need to because you look great (while staring straight at my chest), but you do work at a gym.  I laughed and walked off.  Well later on that morning (10:15) I went to the bathroom.  Like most bathrooms they had a mirror in there.  So I happened to catch a glimpse of myself and just melted.  In case you haven't figured it out by now, I was wearing a yellow (thin and slightly see through) shirt with you guessed it my BLACK BRA!  I could've died.  So I'm telling Markus this story and he's dying laughing and my assistant is yelling I noticed that too.  You talk about embarrassed.  Luckily there was a shirt for me to change into that was black.  O yes gotta love that one.  It's officially on the record now.  Feel free to share you fun stories just like this one, so I can read and laugh too.

You can kinda see how thin and slightly see through it is in this pic.  oh geez.

Thanks Mom!

I will be the first to say that my mom didn't teach me HOW to cook.  I say that because she really didn't.  BUT she did teach me ABOUT cooking and the importance of having a home cooked meal.  This thought just occurred to me yesterday morning at about 11am when Markus and I were hungry.  In a effort to whip him up something quickly so we could eat, I offered to make him pancakes.  I made them from a box mix as it was much quicker and I had no milk in the house to make real homemade ones.  As he started eating them, he utters "they are good, but you've made better"  I just kinda laughed.  For 2 reasons.  1. I have never made him "real" pancakes (it had always been box mix just doctored up) and 2. He was thinking of my MOM's homemade pancakes.  Which by the way are the bestest ever.  So it was then that it dawned on me.  How could I cheat my husband out of a potentially great breakfast by thinking an out of the box mix would be like mom's pancakes??  My mom took great pride in making us homemade meals especially breakfast.  It was nothing for us to wake up to the smell of pancakes or waffles with eggs and bacon going and all we had to do was grab our glass she put in the freezer and fill it up with some cold milk.  Though she didn't teach me any of her recipes in cooking she did teach me the by the sweat of our brow may we enjoy the fruits of our labor.  The fruit of course enjoying a yummy home-cooked meal.  And it is because of this that I do in fact enjoy cooking for Markus and I and the fruit that comes with it!  It's not just another chore for me, unless it's figuring out what to cook!  So to mom, thank you.  I love you and just when you thought you might not have contributed to my greatness of cooking.... I surprised you! ;)  Now if you could just give me all your old recipes that I love, then we'd be in business!

Check out my mom's pancake recipe on my new blog I'm Hung-ry!

Memory Tag

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. I can't wait to see what people remember.

It'll be fun! I tag all of y'all!

MY New Fav Ice Cream

OH MY GOSH, has anyone tried Southern Blackberry Cobbler by Bluebell?  It is soooo awesome.  It reminds me alot of Ben & Jerry's kinda.  It has little cookie crisps in it with yummy blackberry swirls in creamy white ice cream.  It's soo worth it.  Just thought I'd share.  I'm almost out and it made me think of how I'll miss it until I get some more.  :)

LSU @ Victorias Secret

I can't even remember the last time I got a Victorias Secret catalog in the mail, but I've always loved their stuff.  Well Markus told me yesterday that they were selling LSU stuff.  I'm like, no way.  I definitely didn't believe him.  And how could he know before me.  I'm the girl here.  HA!  Well apparently it is their new promotion for Fall 2008... Collegeiate Collection !  How cool is that.  I must say I think it's pretty cute and I'm looking into the purple shirt for GAMEDAY!  Anyways, just thought I would share with all you tiger girls out there.

Introducing.... I'm HUNG-RY!

I've seen this done by a few people and thought I'd start a blog just for recipes.  I hope this gets my mind thinking into more food and more good food at that.  I've named it I'm Hung-ry because it's what I always hear at the most inopportune times if you know what I mean.   I'm sure everyone woman can relate to this, especially the ones who actually take the time to make a home-cooked meal.  Hope you enjoy my recipes (or the ones I use) as much as I do.

Invitations

I'm making these invites for my boss's niece's baby shower. Cute, but such a pain. I need an idea of how much to charge for these. Any ideas? How much is too much?? BTW they are baby blue and chocolate brown. I really love the color combinations.

Phone Conversation

I find it funny how as adults we have similiar traits of our parents/upbringing. One day Markus and I were discussing this at length of how everytime he went somewhere he was supposed to call his mom when he got there or call when coming home. I still to this day can't get used to this. He wants me to do the same thing anytime I leave the house. I usually wind up forgetting and then he's like you never called. In that same conversation we also talked about how his mom always asks the same questions when she calls. I of course laughed at this because I've noticed the same thing in her, but in HIM also.

Here are some of the typical questions/responses:

How's it going?
What did yall do today?
What's going on?
I was just calling to say hey!
I was just calling to see what was going on!
I was just thinking about you!

So with those things in mind, here is the last conversation Markus and I had (btw we are both at work):

Jenn: Hello! (I answered the phone)
Markus: Hey! (typical when he's bored or at work)
Jenn: What's up? (he called me)
Markus: Nothin' (always the response)
Jenn: Well what are you doing right now?
Markus: Walkin'
Jenn: O, Ok.
Markus: Well I was just calling to say hey and see how you were doing!!!! (this is his mother made over)
Jenn: Ok, well I've got to get back to work.

Now I did spare some of the details, but Markus just loves to call me at work (while I'm busy) and tell me he's bored or that it's the slowest part of the day or just to say hey! I'm not complaining, just thinking of how similiar he is to his mom and how he sometimes hates when she calls and has nothing else to say, but HEY! hehe I just love it.

Me and my assistant joke sometimes when the phone rings and it's like, "hmmm... I wonder who that is?" Markus has his own ring on my phone so I will always know when he's calling.

Love you hunny!

p.s. Esther if you are reading this we love you and aren't you glad your son took something he learned from you and is still using it today? Love you!

Happy 4th of July.... LATE!

We've been looking forward to this weekend ever since we knew our friends Helen & Heber were coming into town.  See we were supposed to go visit them this weekend in Houston, but she called and told me they would be in BR for a wedding.  I must say yesterday was a blast.  Filled with lots of fun.  I took some cute shots of them and Dixon is just the cutest thing.

Helen, Heber and Dixon looking at our LSU scrapbook album.

Dixon and I playing on the deck/patio with the hose.  He was about to spray me when this photo was shot.  He just barely missed my camera.

My Grandpa made this "choo choo" for us as kids and Dixon decided he wanted to sit and ride.  This was the best shot we could get with the camera.  I really couldn't stop laughing.  I thought it was hilarious.  While Helen kept prompting him to stay and ride the choo choo.

On another thought, I'm so grateful to live in AMERICA and be an AMERICAN.  We enjoy so many luxuries of living in a free country, I think we have become so complacent with that.  I just wanted to express my love of what I've been given.  I'm eternally grateful to be born and raised here in the United States of America.  I know not everyone in the world is given that.  I'm thankful that the Lord saw fit to see that this country could be free and the people here could worship as they please.  And that we have the gospel of Jesus Christ here today.  And also that women (later in history, but presently today) can vote and have what we enjoy today.  I know that took a lot of hard work to get us to the point that women are at today.  I'm proud to say I definitely exercise my right to vote and to work, etc.  Thanks to all who made this wonderful country what it is today, more importantly the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ and his Father, Heavenly Father.

My 2nd Pottery Barn visit

Well I went to Pottery Barn for the 2nd time this week.  This was after I decided I should probably get a 2nd job to help pay for my teeth.  Well I still don't know about that yet.  I'm just worried my marriage/life will suffer from the time spent working at PB.  So Markus and I were walking around and I saw an old manager I used to work with at GAP.  I loved her.  She was the coolest person to be around.  So much energy.  I of course went up to her and was like Ros I can't believe you are working at my favorite store.  She beamed.  I told her I might have to come see her for a job.  She was one of the managers there.  So I'm happy to know someone who works there that knows me.  Maybe.  We will see.  I need the money, but not at the expense of my marriage/life.

CRAZINESS

This week has been crazy.  I thought it would've settled down after Youth Conference.  I have been working on invitations for my boss.  But that isn't the busy/crazy part of the week.  We have been getting our house ready for our guests this weekend.  This will be the first guests we've ever had in our house.  I must say it has been an exciting craziness though.  I've been getting our "guest bedroom" all in place and also making sure our hall bath was presentable.  They have a toddler and I wanted to make sure if I had a kid I would put them in my tub.  Needless to say I had to do a lot of scrubbing.  We haven't used our hall bath in months.  It's usually for utility purposes, so I took steel wool and a razor blade to it to remove paint and grim.  Fun, but it looks awesome now.  I even purchased a vase from Pottery Barn for the bathroom and it is just the perfect fit.  I love that store, but that is another post.

Helen, Heber and Dixon we are looking forward to your visit.  Love yall!
