A Quote

"Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends." ~Unknown
Read this quote on a friend's Facebook status and it was just what I needed to read after griping about Christmas Day to my sis about our family. I'm sure you will find this useful to you too Jolie. Love you and all your great wisdom :). And for anyone else that reads this, I'm sure you will see how this applies in your life as well. Take it to heart, cause it could prevent a lot of foolish stress and unnecessary heartache.

I've been so lazy in making up my mind on a Christmas Card for us.  After all, it IS Trevor's 1ST Christmas!  I want it to be cute and of course reflect his adorable personality.  I lost out of the 2 awesome discounts at Shutterfly.... so I'm thinking I might do one from Etsy.  Who knows.  There's still time, lol!  For those who won't get a Christmas Card...

Here's our newsletter:

Oh Christmas tree! Oh Christmas tree!

Also on the day after Thanksgiving (after the game, as you can tell) we hopped on over to the big box retailer to pick us out a tree. We opted for a smaller one which is unusual, but it works and is still pretty ;).

I sort of dragged my feet on picking out a color scheme for my tree. Markus wanted blue of course! But last year was the blue tree as we awaited for the arrival of our son. And trust me for someone who doesn't really care for blue, I've had plenty of it this year! So I opted for red and silver. Why those colors? Well a couple of years ago (the year my tree fell over) Markus' sweet Papa gave me some of his wife's (Grandma Clara) ornaments. Do you remember the 80s soft stringy ornaments? Where if you had a hang nail it would ruin them. Well as I was looking through my ornaments and got the feeling like kids get on Christmas morning while opening presents when I saw them. Bright red in all their glory and memories of those who once so enjoyed them... And I knew that the tree would have red on it this year. I hadn't done red since 2009. I lost so Many of my favorite ornaments that year. Anyways so here's the tree less the topper cause idk about that yet. The one I have is too skinny to fit one the tree.

Black Friday shopping

I ventured out with Trevor about 8am to catch some deals at Old Navy for "Black Friday". It wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be. Until we got to the check out line. Lol! But that's another story. Managed to try on a fleece hat for Trevor and even snapped a pic cause it was so darn cute! (we had to buy it after trying it on)

Happy Birthday to me!

Well at 7:57AM today I will officially be 29 years old. If you ask me... I'm dreading next year. Most people I speak to tell me they loved 30. I'm just wondering what the last year of my 20s will feel like LOL! My day started out great. My baby was chipper to see me (unlike yesterday morning), we got off early to the babysitters. Friends at work were very welcoming and I wore a pin on my shirt all day that said, "today is my birthday". It was entertaining. Co-worker friends took me to Sonnys BBQ for my bday lunch. That was delish. Staff meeting at 1PM and we had Italian Creme Cake (Homemade!~) and everyone sung Happy Birthday to me with my boss calling me "Little One". I'm by no means the youngest in the office, but he LOVES to pick with me. It's funny though because I'm self conscious about my age especially this age... but I'm still the "little One".. Hilarious! Went home and started cleaning cause I had a meeting with the church ladies. 6:20 finish my dishes and I'm feeling good about this! Push the button to start the dishwasher as Trevor is right at my feet pouncing his hands on the dishwasher and turn around to my Hubby walking in the door! What a surprise! I WAS SO HAPPY! That was probably the best moment of my day. I really wanted to spend the evening with him and I just knew he would get off work (as usual) when I fell asleep. So I called my church ladies to cancel the meeting at my house. The boys and me went out for food. Trevor was getting tired and it was about that time. We decided to get take out.... and that was from one of my favs... La Madeleines. Markus did that just for me. I tell you he is great! On our way back home... and this was so FUNNY, I ask Markus if we can do what I want to do for the rest of the night since it was my Birthday. He says, as long as it doesn't involve dancing. hahaha! That is usually my request on my birthday or anniversary. He knows me too well. We watch a lame movie and yeah! Absolutely great way to end my last birthday of my 20s. hehe bring on 30 and a baby!

I could not ask for more

Really needed to hear this song today... It's the first song Markus and I danced to as husband and wife 6+ years ago :)

Black Forest Cheesecake {for my Bday Celebration}

Ever heard of a Black Forest Cheesecake?  I haven't either until tonight.  My MIL made one for my birthday.  IT was awesome.  I'm not a real big chocolate fan... but I didn't want to pass up trying this one.  I even got to take a piece home.  I will be getting the recipe from her if anyone is interested.  I should have taken a pic of it so you could see how pretty she did it up... darn.  Let me just describe briefly:  Oreo crust, Chocolate cheesecake, topped with cool whip, cherries and shaved chocolate.  Beautiful huh?  Tasty too.

Thanks Esther for making a girl feel so loved.  You are the best MIL a girl could ask for.  My friends are jealous.  I love you ma'am!

Helen Brett Jewelry Show

Well me and my BFF set out for NOLA. Armed with some cash and an open mind we were excited for what awaited us at the jewelry show. Little did I know how crazy the whole day would be. I drove into Kenner and realized I left the tickets to get in the door at home in my purse which I conveniently decided I should leave at home. Ugh. Made my husband meet me at Tanger Mall so we wouldn't waste more precious time. Finally we got there and got stuck in traffic. Eventually we parked 6 or so blocks away from the Convention Center and settled to park for $10 compared to $30. Crazy! We got our walk on let me tell you! We entered and what we saw was craziness!!! Let me just say I will have to think long and hard about going back. But I got some cute stuff. And some great ideas. Here's the pics I took.
This was the sight I saw right when I walked in the door.  Um wow yes those are people waiting in line on the right.
Burlap Owl.  How cute!
This was at the Royal Standard Booth.  Might have to go to the store in town and get a better look at it.
Thought this Fleur de Lis was cool.  It appeared to be a piece of plywood that holes were drilled to create the fleur de lis then Christmas lights pulled thru to light it all up.  Great idea huh?
This as one of my fav signs.  I will be making these!
Not a great pic but can you see the galvanized bucket?  It's modge podged with cute black and white print!  Love!
This was also at the Royal Standard Booth.  $44.95 for this beauty.  I know for sure I can make it for cheaper!
The burlap Football!  Obviously I'm not pulling for the "Rebels" this weekend... just imagine this in purple and gold.  See much better!
Lastly but not least, my BFF trying on the knit headband thing.  She's so purdy!

Veteran's Day

Thank you to all the Veterans out there who serve and have served our country so proudly and defended our freedoms we so enjoy.   There is quite a few military men in my family and that's all they want to talk about.  I am ever so grateful.

Christmas Newsletter Idea

Just thought I would share this CUTE little card I saw on Shutterfly!
I absolutely love this idea in every way. Usually I do a short "recap" of the year like I did HERE and put it in my Christmas Cards, but I love this cute idea :)  I'm thinking I will go for this idea.  So far everyone always loves the recap, but this will be fun and different.  Am I the only person planning Christmas cards, pictures, etc right now?

**P.S. I go to market in NOLA on Saturday.  Did I mention I'm excited about this?  Um yes!

Michael Buble Christmas Album!!!

Michael Buble's Christmas Album is out... for a whole 2 weeks now. I feel so cheated for not knowing it was released Oct 24th. Ugh! I happened to hear him on Pandora Radio (at work) and it triggered my memory to check into the release of the Christmas Album. I had a coworker friend run to the store for me at lunch to get it for me. I LOVE it! He is amazing... just a note it has a lot of songs on it. I was expecting 10 or so but if I remember correctly (left the CD at work) I think it's something like 15 or so songs. A must for the Christmas Season! Enjoy the video :)

Mini LSU Christmas tree

In the market for a purple and gold tree? Well I spotted this at Louisiana Nursery! What do you think? I might get one for Trevor's room;). Gearing up for Christmas already!

10 Months (2 Months Closer to 1)!

Oh my how the months go by!  I seriously cannot believe Trevor is 10 months and swiftly approaching his first birthday.  I am already in the planning stages as most of that will be filled with the holidays!  We went to the park in my Granny's neighborhood where I was picking acorns and gumballs for a craft project.  It was so pretty with the sun going through the trees that I went back home and got Trevor for a photo shoot :)  Happy 10 months my baby!
Playing on the slide looking at the other kiddos at the park.

He was so involved in looking at the other kids :)

Yay he looked at the camera.  I love his feet placement!

What a looker.

Love the expression on his face.  Like oops you caught me getting a taste of the leaf.

I'm obsessed with profile pics of him :)

Playing with the leaves.

Such a card.

He is so much fun!  And has so much energy :).  No new teeth this month.  But he got to go to the Dr. twice this past month.  Once for his 9 month check-up and again when he was diagnosed with croupe.  Poor baby had a rough time of it, but luckily I caught it early and he didn't get too bad off before the steroids.  He was still miserable though.

We have started feeding him more solid foods.  I would love to wean him off baby food :).  A girl could dream.  But I think I am going to start trying.  He does well with the stage 3 foods.  At first he was confused by the chunkies, but now he likes it.  His favorite is herb chicken by Gerber.  He gobbles it down so fast!  I gave him bread this morning and he liked that.  We started giving him avocados and that was entertaining.   Still not sure what to feed him, so I'm just experimenting and having fun with it.

Trevor a couple of weeks ago weighed 19lbs (with clothes on) and was 28-3/4 long.  Growing little boy I tell you!  By chance he was standing on one end of the coffee table and I was on the other.  I have these willow balls in a shallow bowl on the coffee table.  The one thing that is indestructible and still looks pretty.  So he threw one of the willow balls at me and I rolled it back to him.  Then he threw it again.  We basically started playing "catch" and he was so thrilled.  He learned a new trick that night and has been doing it ever since.  He is getting good at listening to us.  I'm excited to see him learn new things and apply them.  Wow!

Well that's our boy in a wrap.  Here's to 10 months of an every changing, fun filled life that I wouldn't trade for the world.  We love you Trevor!

LSU vs BAMA

Tigers win! Tigers win! An Alabama fan crying as his girlfriend comforts him. We cracked up laughing at this. Thanks for the pic Lisa Saxton!

In other news I was shown how to do some awesome makeup today. Had to leave a little early cause Trevor needed a nap. But here's a pic of that too

LSU Lovers

I'm pumped for the game! How about you? This was my get up today at work ;).
***it has also been "Spirit Week" at work in preparation for the big game this week***

Trevor's new high chair

I was excited to see this for sale on Craig's list. So I bought it as quick as I could. But not before the state trooper pulled me over. I had to text the seller and tell her what was happening. I felt so dumb. Was going 69 in a 55 speed limit. Gotta love it. Oh well. Least I got the high chair I had been drooling over for a year. Yay for Trevor!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We went to take pics at the Pumpkin Patch while Markus watched the LSU vs. Auburn game. His mom, sister and her husband went in place of Markus. It wasn't the same, but I was sure glad they came to support my little man and all his "1st's". It was an absolutely beautiful day. It really couldn't have been more perfect. I had so much fun taking pics of him and watching his fascination with the pumpkins. He got a handle on the smaller ones and would just toss them. It was so funny! He is all boy in that respect! All he wants to do as of late is throw/toss things. Any thing at that :). Well here's the pics. FINALLY. It's just so time consuming to do this. So I'll just post my favs :)
Trevor finds the stem!

He's fascinated... and really thinking about it :)

He was such a card!

Having a ball with his new found friends :)

Trevor & his Nanny... you see there he goes about to throw the pumpkin!

Uncle "E" (Eric), Nanny, & Trevor

Mommy & Trevor

My daydreamer... Can we say Markus?

This child was so happy to be there :)

Right before I took this shot he was trying to eat the pumpkin!

Mimi took Trevor for a hayride.  His 1st might I add :)

Playing in the trailer where all the hay was.

Uncle E, Trevor & Nanny...Seriously my baby could pass for Sarah's child... don't you think?

In this pic Trevor just kept grabbing Sarah's chin.  Hilarious!

Nanny & Trevor playing with the John Deere Tractor

He was so into the tractor and the noise it made when I tapped my ring against it.  The baby loves noises.  Of all kinds.

The best one we could get of the 2 of us by the tractor.  Loving my baby boy!

Well, there you have it.  Fall is my single most favorite season and time of year.  I would always drive by these pumpkin patches and wish I could go, but felt silly since I didn't have a little one.  Not anymore.  I think this will of course start a new tradition around this time of year.  I'm sure many more will follow this one.  I loved everything about this day and being with my baby as he is my heart.  Here's to many more visits with the pumpkins.

Did I mention it was National Blog Posting Month?  Um yeah, going to try and post something at least once a day on this blog.  Ha!  We will see how I do :).  Shouldn't be too hard since I have Trevor to talk about :)   Enjoy!
