My Fav Room in the house

I'm sure I've mentioned this room before. It seems to be ever changing. I love this room. I love everything about it! It really reflects me. I think this is one of the few rooms in my house that does this. It was such a beautiful bright sunny day, so I had to snap these photos. AND to show my new addition to the room! Well there are a few.
Pictured here is my new rug! It's supposed to be a zebra rug, but to me it's much better. My sis snagged me this great deal at Lowe's for this 5x7 black and white beauty. Ready for the price? $20!!!! She called me to ask if I wanted it... truth is I had eyed this rug a while back but was debating on the size... for the price. Well @ $20 there was no more debating. I'm VERY happy with it :))))
I rearranged the shelves on the wall. I know big surprise. I have WAY too many holes on the walls, but oh well!
My gallery wall. This wall has inspired me to get some pictures printed up as I have not done that...ohhhh since we moved in, at least. It's sad how long it has been. All because I haven't been scrapbooking! But it's a work in progress. Oh how I love it though. I know those "Martha Stewart Pom-Poms" caught your eye. Yep tissue paper baby! I freakin love them. Need to find more cute Black & White Tissue paper to make some more. Damask is the next print I'm after. Anybody know where I can find some?

P.S. Next additions to the room: sewing machine (thanks to my reward points on my debit card!), drapes (made with my sewing machine!), and This lamp

Day Late Dollar Short

Pictured here is the couch I saw on Craig's List Thursday. As soon as I saw it, I immediately emailed the person wanting to know if it was still available. I just knew a couch like this wouldn't last long. Well it was surprise surprise. Of course he wasn't available to show it to me Thursday night and said he would call on Friday when it was a good time for him. OK, so I had a wedding to go to... I guess we could leave early if he happened to call. So I waited and waited and waited. Nope no call. I was annoyed, but didn't feel like calling him because after all maybe he was busy. Saturday came and went and no call. This is when I should have emailed him back. I did have his number but I'm weird about calling people. Well you guessed it no response back from him. Finally Sunday morning early I emailed him and told him I waited for his call and haven't heard back from him. He thought he emailed me with the rest of the inquirers and offered to show it to me yesterday. Oh perfect I was left out. Well that would be fine and great, but I wanted to buy it, not just go and see it. Sorry not doing that on Sunday. Guess that was my loss. I didn't get his email until later and at that point he had someone coming last night that wanted everything he was selling. Lovely... I was so pissed because it could have been mine on Friday or Saturday. But noooooo I didn't find out it was still available until SUNDAY the Sabbath day when I don't go shopping. Ok so I'm just a bit annoyed... but this freakin couch/sofa was something I have been looking for for years. Style, color, etc. Would it be weird to ask him where he got it from? I just want the stupid couch for $100 like I thought I would be getting on Thursday.... if only I could go back :(

Miss you Grandpa! Miss you...

Where does the time go? It was just a year ago today that I got a call saying he was gone. Easter Sunday :( What I wouldn't give to see his smiling face, or hear his laugh, or hug his neck. My how the time flies... So in memory of one of the sweetest men on earth, I dedicate this song to my Grandpa, his favorite as far as I knew.

You are my Sunshine

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

That song will forever ring in my heart as I recall a many a day where we would sing this to him. I love you Grandpa...

He Sent His Son

I've been thinking a lot about this song we teach to our primary age kids at church. It has such a powerful yet simple enough message for our children to understand. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Can't wait til my kids can sing this in church.

He Sent His Son (the Lyrics)

How could the Father tell the world of love and tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.
How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know.
How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.
What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way.
What does he ask? Live like his Son.

Bored= New Hair

Those who know me know, that when I get bored... there will always be a project. Over the past year or so it has definitely been my hair. In my crazy brain I decided since I couldn't get my hair cut by _____ that I would just do it myself cause we are trying to save money or stupid stuff. It has worked out thus far and proved rather fun and certainly the NEVER-ENDING project. Last week I decided I was going to highlight my hair. Well I finally got around to it last night while Markus was at work. So bring on the blondness!
Well what do you think? I only had to fix it once. I think I might throw another low light in all the blondness, but I was actually impressed with my own 2 hands. haha! Saved myself $80 or so and it only took 1.5 hrs (including the fix)! I guess beauty school is finally paying off, lol!

Happy 60th Birthday Mother!

Dearest Mother,

On your birthday I thought I'd post one of your favorite pictures of us.  Thought it would be a cute one.  I can't remember how old I was as I don't have the original pic anymore, but the twins were in your belly so I have to be somewhere around 16 or so months old?  All I remember you telling me about this one is we were at your Aunt Julia's house and she had the best gardens.  You taught me all about gardening.  Thank you for giving me such an appreciation for the green of this earth.  I've never wanted to stop learning about it.  It is by far my most favorite place to be in and/or around my house.  I guess I learned that at a young age (as pictured above).

I've learned a lot from you in my short 27 years on this earth.  And what a wealth of knowledge it has been.  I would almost say I value that more than a "real" education, but I guess that would be a matter of opinion as I haven't been to a university YET.  You always wanted us to go to college.  But as you have said multiple times you wanted to go back to school, well I feel the same way.  I suppose it would be a timing thing for me and also a BIG decision.  What to do first, kids or school?  How do you put a priority on that?

I'm happy you saw fit to have us 6 girls.  I love all my sisters and I'm so grateful for all they bring to our family.  Goodness knows who would I tattle on back in the day (or now for that matter, haha)?  or pull their hair, or any of the other crazy terrible things my brain could think of.

Clearly this letter could go on, but I digress.

Nonetheless Happy Birthday!  May you look back on your 60 years and remember all that you have accomplished.  Wish you many more to come and hope you have a fun and Happy 60th Birthday!

Love,

Jenn
