I lived to tell about it...

Another *ALMOST* Walmart trip gone bad. We went to Pville Walmart as we usually do on Saturdays. See that is the only time I can really shop there. Yes while I realize we are taking a chance by going there on Saturday, I don't have another option. So we find a register to check out on and it's one of those hidden ones where you go all the way down the aisle and pass others standing in line to get in the short line. Well it was of course slowly progressing (just my luck) and this guy in a motor wheelchair comes in between 2 lines of people side by side to squeeze in front of me to talk to the cashier. He was a worker there. So I moved back a little to give him room to talk to his co-worker. Well after he left we naturally started moving up. Then jumps this girl just right in front of us as we were moving up to start to unload things. I just said Ma'am we have been waiting in line and were moving up to check out. She gave me this look from hell, looked at the cashier then left. Markus said my face turned so red. I was so freakin pissed that she even hesitated when I told her we were basically here long before she was. WTF. Me and ***** girls don't get along at Walmart. I'm just saying. Markus kept saying, man you and Walmart. Ha! Needless to say the ***** cashier didn't say two words to me. You know they all like to stick together. I hope by now you understand the *****s. Anyway I was trying to get across to the cashier that she never even said hello to us. You know how they ask you those questions on the key pad? Well I answered one that said was your store clean today? I told Markus when he asked what I pressed that it usually says did your cashier greet you today. Ha! She still didn't talk to us. Whatever!

A Sweet Surprise

I was giving my MIL our old digital camera that we don't use and realized that I had not cleared the pics off the memory card. So I did this last week so I could give her the bigger memory card to use. Well I was just buzzing in IPhoto to see if there were any pics we had not uploaded to the computer. Surprise surprise there certainly were and ones I haven't seen in almost 2 years. In 2007 we went to the Pennington Balloon light up thingy with some of our dear friends who have since moved and we miss terribly. These are what I found on the memory card. I'm so thrilled.

Helen, Heber & Dixon
The balloon light up. Very cool but hot if you are close up.
We were so hot. It was in August!
Helen & Heber

Hope yall enjoyed these Helen & Heber. I can't believe I found these. So glad I didn't let Markus delete all the pics off the card first off. Miss yall. Luvs! This sure made my day :)

A Quote Worth Sharing

This was mentioned at church and I thought it was worth sharing...

“Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies; it never goes to the hospital; it works on Sundays and holidays; it never takes a vacation; it never visits nor travels; it takes no pleasure; it is never laid off work nor discharged from employment; it never works on reduced hours; it never has short crops nor droughts; it never pays taxes; it buys no food; it wears no clothes; it is unhoused and without home and so has no repairs, no replacements, no shingling, plumbing, painting, or whitewashing; it has neither wife, children, father, mother, nor kinfolk to watch over and care for; it has no expense of living; it has neither weddings nor births nor deaths; it has no love, no sympathy; it is as hard and soulless as a granite cliff. Once in debt, interest is your companion every minute of the day and night; you cannot shun it or slip away from it; you cannot dismiss it; it yields neither to entreaties, demands, or orders; and whenever you get in its way or cross its course or fail to meet its demands, it crushes you.” (In Conference Report, April 1938, p. 103.)

*As you can see it was given over 70 years ago as council and still holds true today. Boy they know what they are talking about, huh?

First For Everything (Part 2)

I can't believe I almost forgot to share my other story. HA! Well read on. I went to work at the Builders last night. Markus came with me to set up our fax line. Well I just barely met my boss's babysitter Wednesday, so when she saw me there with a dude I don't even know what she was thinking. Markus left cause boss had not made it there yet. Well I guess babysitter and Markus got to talking. She asked him who he was. I'm sure he replied with he was my husband. To which she replied with something like she thought Markus was my SON. Yeah I'm not sure if you caught that the first time so let me just repeat that. Babysitter thought Markus was my SON. Okay------ well when Markus was telling me this as he was rolling on the floor laughing I thought to myself how old does she think I am OR better yet how young did she think Markus was. Markus told me she thought I looked older. Um ok? Anyways like I said first for everything. :) *Sigh*

Did I mention the part where I was Markus' mother in this story? Oh I did, just checking!

First For Everything

I washed the car today all by myself. That was a first. Markus was taking a nap and I was bored at home and wanted to do something productive outside of my house. The outside of the car was filthy, so I am really glad I did it. So I cleaned the car first, then the rims, then shined the tires and DONE. Then I found this stuff we had to clean/shine the dash. So I went after that as well since it had been a while since we did it. Cleaning the drivers side, getting the gauges really well and door shut. Job well done. As I was walking to go put everything up, I turn back to see my pretty car and the headlights start flashing and I hear the doors lock. Now how in the hell did that happen? And how was I going to tell Markus I did this really great thing of cleaning the car, but somehow managed to lock the keys in the car?? Hmmm.... so long story short I called pop-a-lock and yeah. Oh but that's not the best part. I met the guy at the door. Walked him out to the car, showed him where I put my keys and told him I'm not sure what you need to do, but I'm gunna go get my checkbook. Inside I go. I open the front door to meet him walking up to me with the keys in hand. WTF? You mean to tell me this FREE car wash I thought I was getting has now costed me $45 a whole minute later? Perfect!

Feeling Spoiled

This weekend has been a bit of pampering of sorts you could say in comparison to the last few months. Friday night I didn't have to work, so we went out for a night on the town. haha! First Markus took me to the mall. Let me just say I feel like a woman again, I bought some cheap table linens from PB. I really really really miss PB. I got a black linen runner that was trimmed out in velvet ribbon with 6 matching napkins for $22! It was a steal for PB. Then we went to eat at a Filipino place. The first in BR. I liked it a lot. It was Markus' tennis buddy's restaurant. I would highly recommend Pinoy! Then he let me rent Bride Wars. Loved it! No he didn't watch it with me, well maybe 10 minutes but he hated it. LOL! So Saturday rolls around and it had rained so I wasn't able to immediately jump in the yard. So we went to the nursery. Also a place I miss especially in the Spring! We found hydrangeas on sale and Markus insisted I get one! Ha! I just wanted a rose bush, but opted for the hydrangea instead. Then we went to go visit his old boss @ the fruit stand and found they had lemon trees. Yep I got a Meyer Lemon tree! :) I love lemons, so this was my lucky day apparently cause they usually sell them in the fall when they produce a lot of fruit or something. So I finally have a lemon tree! That evening I was able to work in the yard and get everything all straight. I'm super duper excited that it's all straight and in 2 weeks we will be building (with help) an arbor over the deck in the side yard to make for my perfect little getaway :) I can't wait til we can afford to through parties/ get togethers again! Pics to come soon!

Finding the GOOD in my life

These past few months have been a rather trying time for me. I've had my fair share of bumps along the way and even a few good times mixed in somewhere. But overall I've been down. Down about everything. It sucks. I try to see the good, but end up only seeing the not so good things. I think we all have experienced this at one point or another. However, there is always a turning point. A time where you can take a few steps back and just REFLECT. I have been trying to do this as I've become so overwhelmed with my crazy busy schedule/ life. In these reflections I have seen some blessings, blessings I didn't see through all crazy darkness. I just wanted to share the GOOD in a bad situation. Here are a few examples of what I mean.

*Of course the biggy is Markus losing his job. But I'm so grateful I have a job(s) that is still able to support us. How many people can lose almost 1/2 of their household income and still manage to live and hold up some standard of living.
*The above has caused me to think how thankful I am that Markus and I don't live beyond our means and have tried to live a cash lifestyle not worrying about how much to put on a credit card.
*We lost our health insurance. But amazingly we have been spared from going to the Dr/Hospital.
*I have crazily (is that a word) taken on a 3rd job which has given us just what we needed when we needed it.
*Gives me a greater appreciation for the man breadwinners out there supporting their family while mommy stays home as raises children. I will be so thankful for Markus when he can fill in my shoes ;)
*Just got an interview for a position I applied for months ago and it went well and come to find out my boss/dr/contact (from my 2nd job) knows the owner who I talked to. (Keeps gettin better)
*And maybe just maybe this is a taste of what parenthood tastes like. And one day I will get to taste the sweetness :)
*Markus even appreciates me a lot more than he has in the past and that is never a bad thing :) But to go through this... well I guess it's worth it!

Those are just a few things.

The promise: And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Being humbled isn't such a bad thing I've discovered for there are GOOD things in that beautiful teaching process. After all it has allowed me to become closer to the all-knowing Lord. What more could I ask for :)
