A Message

Conference was wonderful. I only missed 1 session. Not bad for me. Thank goodness the church has kept up with technology as I was able to stream it straight from my phone and on the computer. I am so glad I didn't miss Henry B. Eyring's Message. It hit me. Hard. I just wanted to share it, cause it is that important to hear again, unless you didn't hear it at all.

His message was this, suggestions for "no empty chairs":
  • Pray for the love that allows you to see the good in your companion
  • Pray for the love that makes the weaknesses and mistakes seem small
  • Pray for the love to make your companion's joy your own
  • Pray for the love to want to lessen the load and soften the sorrows of your companion
My only wish is that I would have heard this sooner. Much sooner. He also went on to say that the Savior is the perfect example of persisting in love. Gosh I just love that and how true it is. He would never give up on us and expects the same out of us. I'm so thankful for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who set the ultimate example for all us to follow. 3 Nephi 11: 10-11 reads, Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified would come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world. I hope yall enjoyed Conference as much as I did. Cause I sure needed a lift :)

I've been on a cleaning/organizing rampage of the office/scrapbooking room. So fall decorating is next along with my mums that I have kept alive from last fall! I decided to make fall cards for the ladies I visit at church too :) Will post pictures when they are done. I got my fall hair color in tonight. I love going dark! Fall is the best :) What do you love about fall?

Getting back to myself

I'm so glad I'm married to such an honest man. He has a way of bringing me down or up to reality whatever the case might be. I've been down. Very down. Obvious reasons. Nothing new really. Just my life as of this year. Markus practically picked me up by my pants and suggested I get over it. He noticed. I have gotten rid of what was the stress/anxiety in my life, kinda... I guess I was sorta hoping it was invisible so he wouldn't notice that I was giving up on everything that made me, well me. I've reconsidered getting rid of all my scrapbook stuff, started working in the garden again, attempting to make some meals, started taking pictures again, decorating my house, working towards finishing the bathroom remodel and one day kitchen remodel... etc. I can't believe how much of myself I have just lost this year. And honestly how much I have missed out on. Of course at the same time, I was going through this humbling process. Funny how the Lord does that FOR us. haha! I know that's the only way I really walk away with the lesson for future reference. Dang... I just need a little sunshine for a while to get me to the next best thing. So here's to baby(s) aka "sunshine" one day :) A man I dearly love and respect at church told me marriage was a faith-based organization and starting a family was the same way. I just started balling. He said he didn't mean to make me cry...but really it's just gotta happen!

Influences that erode faith

“First is doubt. . . . It comes from a lack of confidence in one’s self or abilities. It is inconsistent with our divine identity as children of God. “Doubt leads to discouragement. Discouragement comes from missed expectations. . . . Discouragement leads to distraction, a lack of focus. . . . Distraction leads to a lack of diligence, a reduced commitment to remain true and faithful and to carry on through despite hardship and disappointment. . . . This path ultimately leads to disobedience, which undermines the very basis of faith. So often the result is disbelief, the conscious or unconscious refusal to believe.”

Brand New!

We were so embarrassed when my cousin was over here last week getting his hair cut and he asked what the noise in our house was. We were like oh that is our dishwasher. Is rumbles and we never turn it on when anyone is over because it is a beast. So I've been on a hunt this weekend since there are sales on every block for a dishwasher. Even though ours still works, it's pretty embarrassing how loud it is. So off to Lowe's we go this morning to go visit my sister Steph and take a look around. She helped us find just what we were looking for, of course. Then we went over to the ranges to make sure I like the Samsung ranges so when it came time to get one of those, we would know exactly which one I wanted. Little did we know that we would walk out with that Samsung range I picked out to match the dishwasher we never purchased. Ha! She's a beauty too. Markus had to talk me into getting it. Imagine that? I'm the one who would be using it anyway... I can't believe I didn't think $400 off the original price was tempting. Call me crazy right. So here is our pretty dirty stuff and the new beauty!

I swear we aren't dirty people! I've never seen any of this stuff before in my life! REALLY!
And the beauty of it all. I was surprised that I got EVERYTHING I wanted in this range and didn't have to scrimp just because it was on waaayyy clearance. It includes 5 burners, convection oven system, and a warming drawer at the bottom (instead of storage drawer)! I can't believe it either. Crazy! But you see it gets crazier... my sister called me up to tell me I wasn't going to believe what she was about to tell me. I listened to her tell me that Lowe's had a Bosch dishwasher (black) on sale I mean CLEARANCE for $156! I looked at Markus and was like well I guess we would be stupid to pass up this deal. So we bought the (mismatched brand) dishwasher too and Steph said we could get this sticker thing to make it look "stainless" for like $6. Alrighty then. So $800 later we have a new range and dishwasher that regularly would have costed us $1800. Sweet deal! Thanks little sissy for hookin' a big sissy up! We are very happy!

A Sweet Story

A Young Couple in England

(Reflecting back on the prededication of the London England Temple) by: Gordon B. Hinckley

On that occasion thousands of curious but earnest people stood in long lines to gain entry to the building. A policeman stationed to direct traffic observed that it was the first time he had ever seen the English eager to get into a church.

Those who inspected the building were asked to defer any questions until they had completed the tour. In the evenings I joined the missionaries in talking with those who had questions. As a young couple came down the front steps of the temple, I inquired whether I could help them in any way. The young woman spoke up and said, “Yes. What about this ‘marriage for eternity’ to which reference was made in one of the rooms?” We sat on a bench under the ancient oak that stood near the gate. The wedding band on her finger indicated that they were married, and the manner in which she gripped her husband’s hand evidenced their affection one for another.

“Now to your question,” I said. “I suppose you were married by the vicar.”

“Yes,” she responded, “just three months ago.”

“Did you realize that when the vicar pronounced your marriage he also decreed your separation?”

“What do you mean?” she quickly retorted.

“You believe that life is eternal, don’t you?”

“Of course,” she replied.

I continued, “Can you conceive of eternal life without eternal love? Can either of you envision eternal happiness without the companionship of one another?”

“Of course not,” came the ready response.

“But what did the vicar say when he pronounced your marriage? If I remember the language correctly, he said, among other things, ‘in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, till death do ye part.’ He went as far as he felt his authority would permit him and that was till death separates you. In fact, I think that if you were to question him, he would emphatically deny the existence of marriage and family beyond the grave.

“But,” I continued, “the Father of us all, who loves His children and wants the best for them, has provided for a continuation, under proper circumstances, of this most sacred and ennobling of all human relationships, the relationships of marriage and family.

“In that great and moving conversation between the Savior and His Apostles, Peter declared, ‘Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,’ and the Lord responded, ‘Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.’ The Lord then went on to say to Peter and his associates, ‘And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven’ (see Matt. 16:13–19).

“In that marvelous bestowal of authority, the Lord gave to His Apostles the keys of the holy priesthood, whose power reaches beyond life and death into eternity. This same authority has been restored to the earth by those same Apostles who held it anciently, even Peter, James, and John.” I continued by saying that following the dedication of the temple on the following Sunday, those same keys of the holy priesthood would be exercised in behalf of the men and women who come into this sacred house to solemnize their marriage. They will be joined in a union which death cannot dissolve and time cannot destroy.

Such was my testimony to this young couple in England. Such it is to you today and such it is to all the world. Our Father in Heaven, who loves His children, desires for them that which will bring them happiness now and in the eternities to come, and there is no greater happiness than is found in the most meaningful of all human relationships—the companionships of husband and wife, parents and children.
